Cup of Joe

Cup of Joe is our student-run coffee shop that activated the Academy’s entrepreneurial program and provides girls the knowledge to run a business through innovative leadership. The coffee shop opened in August 2016 as a part of our annual St. Joe Day events.

Some Cup of Joe students are a members of the Future Business Leaders of America Club. The club further propels their business education and hands-on experiences. Emily Meier ‘17’s involvement with the club was rooted in her belief that “this experience will help me develop skills many others will not achieve until they are out of college with a real career. I feel this experience will provide me with a good foundation in management and possibly a future career in the business world.” She was one of the founding members of the student-run business.

All of Cup of Joe’s profits benefit local non-profit organizations. So far, Respect Life Apostolate, St. Martha’s Hall, International Institute of St. Louis, St. Louis Ovarian Cancer Awareness, Dream Factory, and St. Joseph’s Academy Scholarships have been given donations on behalf of Cup of Joe. Since 2016, the shop has profited over $27,000! If you have any questions, please contact Megan Hackmann, Cup of Joe moderator, at mehackmann@sja1840.org.

"Cup of Joe is a fun way to become involved with the school and meet new people. Workers gain experience through interacting with customers, learning how to work as a team, and improving time management skills. It's a great way to start or end your day either as a worker or a customer!"
