Karen Davis: Missouri Sports Hall of Fame
Ms. Karen Davis, SJA Assistant Principal and former St. Joe coach, was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame!
In 23 seasons covering two different eras (1985-1999, 2007-2014), her teams complied a record of 611-138 (.815). Along the way, they won eight state championships-the most for any coach in Class 4--and played in 16 Final Fours. She was also a 1996 National Coach of the Year. And from her program emerged numerous All-Americans and dozens who earned college volleyball scholarships.
While accepting this prestigious award, Davis said, “Thirty-five years ago, I was blessed to be hired at THE best all-girls school in the nation. I was lucky enough to have mentors like Sr. Mary de Paul Berra and Rosemary Wellington (both of whom MAY have been more competitive than me, Basketball Coach Julie Goessling Matheny (’79) and Soccer Coach Maureen McVey combined)… I share this honor with the St. Joe community and everyone involved with my coaching career.”
