Advancement Officer

Overview:
St. Joseph’s Academy is a college preparatory school in Frontenac, Missouri sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Position Summary:
This position is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive major gift program that will increase philanthropic support for St. Joseph’s Academy. This individual will focus on renewing and upgrading donors to major and planned gifts. The Advancement Officer reports to the Director of Institutional Advancement. He/she is responsible for managing a portfolio of donor prospects, and help donors accomplish their philanthropic goals through a relationship with St. Joseph’s Academy. This position garners support for the school through major, campaign and planned gifts.
 
Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Manage relationships through a portfolio of prospects, overseeing and personally executing through a moves management system, leading to solicitations and the closing of major gifts.
  2. Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards donors and prospects for the benefit of SJA, stewardship includes annual recognition of scholarship donors, major and planned gift society event.  
  3. Identifies planned giving prospects among assigned donors and partners with the Director of Advancement to solicit those prospects.
  4. Works with Advancement office to align efforts and set goals.
  5. Works with Director of Institutional Advancement, the President and Capital Campaign and development volunteer committees to cultivate relationships with prospective donors and deliver solicitation proposals.
  6. Manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including donor database and wealth screening tools.
  7. Other duties as assigned to foster a philanthropic culture of giving.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 5 or more years fundraising experience, including major and planned giving, capital campaign experience a plus.  
  • Demonstrated skill in gift solicitation and portfolio management.
  • The ability to respond to goals and targets for success, track and report progress.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to represent the school to external constituents and work effectively with faculty.
  • Skills, including Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); experience with Raiser’s Edge donor software or similar fundraising software a plus.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team oriented department.
  • Willingness to work some evening and weekend hours as needed.
