Honors Voices of Human Rights

Students in “SS 649/EN 149 Honors Voices of Human Rights” attended Washington University School of Law’s “Public Interest Law and Policy Speakers” series with Judge Christine Van den Wyngaert. The International Criminal Court judge spoke to the audience about “World Peace Through International Criminal Justice: The Role of International Courts and Tribunals.” After her presentation, SJA students had the opportunity to meet her and ask insightful questions.
This course, taught by Mrs. Katie Kieffer Richardson ’99 and Mrs. Ally Landherr, is a cross-curricular English and Social Studies course. Students discuss major violations of human rights around the globe over the past 40 years. For each conflict studied, students read, discuss, debate, engage and attempt to find solutions for these large scale problems.
