Katie Fitzgerald ‘05

In September, Katie Fitzgerald ’05 led an Angels in Prayer meeting. She is the founder of Teatro Catalina and shared her service and faith experiences with the club members. Fitzgerald has been living full-time in Nicaragua, using theatre education as a way to empower young people and teach them to dream outside of their circumstances. “Teatro Catalina began as a dream that founder, Katie Fitzgerald, started conceptualizing as she took a course called “Social Justice in the Arts” during her studies at Santa Clara University. She realized she could combine her love for the work she was doing in Nicaragua with her love for theatre. That course laid the foundation for understanding that theatre, integrated with education, can lead to social change and empowerment.”
