A New Place to Call Home

By: College Advising Department
There are times when change is difficult, uncomfortable, and unsettling. There are other times, however, when change is exciting and uplifting and leaves one with the feeling that it was always meant to be. The latter explains, perfectly, the feelings of new Director of College Advising, Trisha Hasbrouck, and Assistant Director, Christine Holladay. Though both are new to St. Joseph’s Academy, the welcome they’ve received since starting their new roles has been filled with positive encouragement and support.
Mrs. Hasbrouck and Ms. Holladay bring with them a combined 28 years of educational expertise, spanning experiences both in and out of the classroom, admissions offices, post-secondary planning, international programming, and of course, college advising.
Mrs. Hasbrouck was the director of college counseling programs at private international schools in both Morocco and China and uses her previous experience as a university admissions officer to guide students on their way to personal and academic success. She prioritizes relationship building and innovation to help meet the needs of her students and families, and places great value in finding the right fit for maximizing the unique characteristics of each young woman. A native of Texas, Mrs. Hasbrouck plans to spread awareness of the beauty and efficiency of the word "y'all" and hopes to convert as many users to the word as possible.
Ms. Holladay has a rich background in leadership and program development. Among her many accomplishments are her former roles as the director of the EnCompass program and Dean of Students at a local middle school, where she led youth towards academic and post-secondary readiness and achievement. She is highly organized, detail-oriented and possesses a strong desire to challenge and facilitate growth in her students. Additionally, it is important to note, Ms. Holladay can always be bribed with treats involving chocolate and peanut butter!
While still maintaining the traditions and pride of SJA, Mrs. Hasbrouck and Ms. Holladay plan to customize the college application process and roll out several new initiatives for the upcoming year. They’re enthusiastic and eager to continue the tradition of excellence of St. Joe!
