Art Department Updates

Intro to Art
Intro to Art students have finished their first observational artwork of the semester. They explored blind contour drawing, a drawing technique where the artist draws something from observation without looking at their paper and without lifting their pen. This type of drawing helps train the eye and hand to work as a team and helps students to see all of the details of an object.

Two sections of Ceramics I classes made Hunger Bowls for the Pax Christi Mass and Hunger Banquet on April 8th. They researched the social justice issue of hunger in Missouri and around the world and wrote a paper on their findings. From there, students took what they researched and used it as inspiration to design their bowl.
