After 3 rounds of 3 minute talks ,the SJA students who were named as semi-finalists in this Intel International Science and Engineering Fair qualifying event included:

Two SJA students advanced in the competition as finalists: Lauren Gallagher (’19) with her project, The Effect of Different pH Levels on Artemia franciscana, and Margie Lodes (’20), The Effects of Carbon Dioxide on Phytoplankton. In the finals students gave individual 10 minute talks in front of a panel of 18 scientists, followed by 3 minutes of questions from the judges.

Both of our finalists will receive a $1,000 Scholarship from the Monsanto Fund.

All five of our Honors Fair entries will bring their projects to the K-12 Academy of Science - St. Louis Science Fair to compete for special Awards in April. Thanks to Mrs. Katie Lodes for mentoring these young scientists!
