FRONTENAC, MO. — St. Joseph’s Academy is pouring out entrepreneurial success and "serving the Dear Neighbor" this school year. As part of their annual St. Joe Day events this Friday, August 26, 2016 the student-run coffee shop, “Cup of Joe,” is opening and their Campus Ministry team is hosting “SJA Rocks the Bob,” a biennial hair donation event.
Cup of Joe is a student-run coffee shop that will activate the Academy’s entrepreneurial program and provide girls the knowledge to run a business through innovative leadership. The students will be part of the Future Business Leaders of America club to further propel their business education and hands-on experiences. Once profits are realized, the girls will make donations to Respect Life, St. Joe Scholarships, and other various organizations. SJA senior Emily Meier’s involvement with the club is rooted in her belief that “this experience will help me develop skills many others will not achieve until they are out of college with a real career. I feel this experience will provide me with a good foundation in management and possibly a future career in the business world.”
At 10:00 a.m., SJA President, Dr. Regina Mooney and a Cup of Joe student manager will speak on behalf of the school community about the club and their overall goals. A ribbon cutting will precede the official reveal of the space. Following the reveal, Fr. Oscar Vasquez, S.M. will place a blessing for success and support. Coffee for all in attendance will conclude the event.
The St. Joseph’s Academy Campus Ministry team is promoting “Growing Stronger Together” with SJA Rocks the Bob beginning at approximately 10:15 a.m., benefitting Children with Hair Loss and Pantene Beautiful Lengths. More than 100 students, faculty and staff at St. Joseph’s Academy will donate their hair to organizations that provide hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss due to cancer or other diagnoses.
