The Member Board of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and the Board of Directors announced they have unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Regina Mooney as the next President of St. Joseph’s Academy.  Dr. Mooney will assume the role July 1, 2016.

ST. JOSEPH’S ACADEMY ANNOUNCES NEW PRESIDENT
Dr. Regina Mooney Becomes St. Joseph’s Fifth President

(Frontenac, MO) The Member Board of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and the Board of Directors announced they have unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Regina Mooney as the next President of St. Joseph’s Academy. Dr. Mooney will assume the role July 1, 2016.

In an email to parents and alumnae, Board of Directors Chairman Jim Hill wrote,
“Dr. Mooney is an exceptional leader who brings passion for Catholic education to this leadership role. She is a woman of deep Catholic faith who has a clear sense of what it takes to be an effective leader, especially in the context of a Catholic, single gender institution. We were impressed by the breadth of experience Dr. Mooney has in all aspects of school business operations and she joins St. Joseph’s Academy devoted to our mission, core values and opportunities for growth.”

Dr. Mooney has earned Masters’ degrees in Sacred Theology and Divinity from Yale University and a Doctorate of Philosophy from Claremont University. She is currently serving as Director of Institutional Advancement at Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, an all-girls middle and high school that is part of the global Sacred Heart Network, located in Bellevue, Washington.

Upon acceptance of the role, Dr. Mooney noted: “The energy I experienced firsthand at the Academy was so compelling. The history is strong, the accomplishments of students and alumnae so laudable, and the commitment of faculty so palpable, I am excited become a part of it all. Add the caring parents and the foundational foresight of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet to this mix and I know, that with God's help, we can accomplish great things for St. Joe and for the future of girls' education; one that is innovative, adventurous, and sustainable.”

St. Joseph’s Academy is a college preparatory school in Frontenac, Missouri sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet with student enrollment of 505 and 80 faculty and staff. Founded in 1840, the mission of the Academy is to provide quality Catholic education for young women in an environment that challenges them to grow in faith, knowledge, and respect for self and others.
