Yom Hashoah

On “Yom Hashoah,” also known as “Holocaust Remembrance Day,” students in “Bearing Witness: Holocaust Literature of Extraordinary Lives” wrote original poems inspired by the people, places and lessons of the Holocaust, as well as the children of the Terezin Ghetto Camp.

The class also met with teens from the “Jewish Community Relations Council Student to Student” group to discuss the Holocaust, their Jewish faith, experiences with contemporary antisemitism and to view a burnt Torah scroll from the time of the Holocaust. Many thanks to Mrs. Kelly Berry (English Department) for allowing students to study extraordinary lives through guest speakers, programs, memoirs, novels, poetry, primary documents and short stories.
