Honors World Literature’s “Graffiti Walls”

Students in Mr. Tim Kohler's “Honors World Literature” read Maya Angelou's I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. As they read Angelou's turbulent story from childhood to adolescence, they were required to keep track of topics including identity, religion, racial prejudice, motherhood, and love.

At the end of the novel, the students created "graffiti walls" by connecting two topics as they developed into a theme. Through the projects, students shared many of the life lessons that Angelou shares throughout her story. The projects are currently on display in the “Sisters of St. Joseph Humanities Hall.”
