Students Zoom with Best-Selling Author
Two students in Bearing Witness: Holocaust Literature of Extraordinary Lives recently had the opportunity to videoconference with Martha Hall Kelly, the author of The New York Times best-selling novel, “Lilac Girls.”
For their course exam presentation, the Angels are challenged to complete in-depth research about a Holocaust topic of their choosing. These students chose to research the Rabbits of Ravensbrück, a group of Catholic Polish female political prisoners at the all-women’s concentration camp in Germany. The 14-24-year-old girls, who were part of the underground resistance, were the subjects of disfiguring medical experiments performed by Nazi doctors at the camp. The Angels were able to ask Martha Hall Kelly specific questions about Ravensbrück to enhance their presentation and gain new insights about this topic.
This course, taught by Mrs. Kelly Berry, allows students to study the extraordinary lives of the Holocaust through several different genres of literature.
