SJA Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month, Part I
National Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15-October 15, recognizes and celebrates the contributions Americans tracing their roots to Spain, Mexico, Central America, South America and the Spanish-speaking nations of the Caribbean have made to American society and culture.
SJA is celebrating Hispanic history, culture, cuisine and impact. Each day, Mrs. Veronica Washington, Diversity Coordinator, shares information with students and faculty via our digital announcements. This week’s display was about Ellen Ochoa, the first Hispanic woman to go to space when she served on a nine-day mission aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery.
St. Joseph’s Academy is a college preparatory high school sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Our mission at the Academy is to provide quality Catholic education for young women in an environment that challenges them to grow in faith, knowledge, and respect for self and others. Our community expects these young women to make a profound impact in the world.
