Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord
Ms. Anna Hotop, Director of Campus Ministry, shared the following message with St. Joe students on the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord:
“The Annunciation was an ordinary young woman's acceptance of an extraordinary ask. This Solemnity of the Church celebrates Mary’s calling and choice, both of which changed the world. This was a day when Mary’s life was interrupted. Mary’s “yes” models for us a faith that leaves room for doubt and fear, but also one that pushes us to trust in the hope that lies beyond those feelings.
The Annunciation calls us to remember that our lives are caught up in this same story. Shocking news will interrupt our plans, doubt and fear will creep in, something will happen in our lives and change everything. As we navigate this new and unknown experience of “School Away From School,” may we view the big and small moments ahead of us as Mary did: as opportunities for God to grow within us, to shower us with grace, and to change our lives for the better. Every moment, we can choose to say "yes" to our own little annunciations.”
