Mrs. Katie Lodes Recognized with Inspiring Teacher Award

By Dr. Rose Davidson, STEM Coordinator
On January 30, Mrs. Lodes was recognized as one of seven teachers for the Inspiring Teacher Awards through the Challenger Learning Center in St. Louis. These awards are in honor of the seven Challenger Space Shuttle astronauts whose legacy of inspiring the future generation of explorers and innovators continues on through Challenger Learning Centers around the world. These teachers were nominated by a current or former student for inspiring them to pursue a STEM career. Mrs. Lodes was nominated by alumna, Sarah Gebken Hurt ‘15. Sarah said, “Often students would get discouraged if their experiments for the science fair failed, but Mrs. Lodes assured us that was normal. I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for the help and encouragement I received from Mrs. Lodes.”
