International Day of the Girl

On October 11, St. Joseph’s Academy celebrated the "International Day of the Girl." This day is an international observance day declared by the United Nations. Did you know the following statistics about girls’ schools?
  • Nearly 80% of girls’ school students report most of their classes challenge them to achieve their full academic potential.
  • 93% of girls’ school grads say they were offered greater leadership opportunities than peers at coed schools.
  • More than 80% of girls’ school grads consider their academic performance highly successful.
  • Girls’ school grads are six times more likely to consider majoring in math, science and technology.
  • A majority of girls’ school grads report higher self-confidence over their coed peers.
  • 2/3 of students at all-girls schools expect to earn a graduate or professional degree.
  • At the start of college, girls’ school grads rate their confidence in their math and computer skill abilities 10% higher than their coed peers.
  • Girls’ school grads are three times more likely than their peers from coed schools to consider engineering careers.
