Faculty Professional Development

In order to gain new insights and collaborate with professionals in their fields, many teachers attend summer conferences, lectures and seminars. See below for two of the exciting out-of-town trips faculty took this summer:

Mr. Tim Kohler (English Department) traveled to Virginia for the Diversity Leadership Institute, hosted by the National Association of Independent Schools. He joined teachers, administrators and diversity directors from around the country to discuss the ways school communities can best work diversity, equity, and inclusive practices. Several of the topics discussed included gender and racial identity, socioeconomic diversity, power and privilege and the neuroscience of bias.

Mrs. Katie Kieffer Richardson ’99 (English Department) and Mrs. Ally Landherr (Social Studies Department) attended the International Human Rights Conference at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. They joined attendees from over 40 countries and five United Nations ambassadors at the dynamic and informative conference.
St. Joseph’s Academy is a private, Catholic high school for girls in St. Louis, Missouri, sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Our mission is to provide quality Catholic education for young women in an environment that challenges them to grow in faith, knowledge, and respect for self and others. Our community expects these young women to make a profound impact in the world.
