The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing

Congratulations to Katie Kostecki ’20 and Sophie Maniscalco ’21 who were recognized as Regional Affiliate Award winners in the Aspirations in Computing Competition. Katie and Sophie were recognized during a May 4th ceremony at the Missouri History Museum. Both were presented with a trophy and a scholarship along with being provided a mentorship with a Boeing engineer for the next year.

The National Center for Women & Informational Technology sponsors this competition selecting awardees for their demonstrated interest and achievements in computing, proven leadership ability, academic performance, and plans for post secondary education.

Katie and Sophie have both been active members of the JoeBotics team and participated in local hackathons. They are currently enrolled in Computer Languages: Java and will be taking AP Computer Science Principles next year.

Senior Katie Horan was also honored at the ceremony with the Rising Star Award. This award recognizes students who are beginning to move forward in the field of computer technology. Katie is a member of the JoeBotics team and participated in the World Wide Technology Hackathon.
