SJA Welcomes Holocaust Survivor
Students in “EN 155- Bearing Witness: Holocaust Literature of Extraordinary Lives” welcomed Rachel Miller, a Holocaust survivor, to campus. Miller shared her life experiences with the students, which included her family’s move from Poland to France, her mother, brothers and sister being taken to Auschwitz, hiding in France, adopting a new identity and her move to the United States. She considers herself a survivor, not a victim.
This course, taught by Mrs. Kelly Berry, allows students to study the extraordinary lives of the Holocaust through several genres of literature, including memoirs, novels, poetry, primary documents and short stories.
