Lunch at St. Joseph's Academy is provided by Food Service Consultants.

Students use their school ID to purchase lunch from the cafe.

Online cafe accounts are funded via Meal Magic. See below for setup instructions. Funds that were in Meal Magic at the end of the 2025-26 school year were transferred over.

Check deposits are also accepted. Please make checks out to Food Service Consultants and have your daughter turn in to Jan Wilfred, Cafeteria Manager. Cash will not be accepted at lunchtime.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Meal Magic Account Setup

Visit the Meal Magic Portal
Click on My Account.
Click I Need to Register as a Family Portal user.
Follow the instructions linked above.
To Register: You will need your student's ID number to register. Your student's cafe ID number is 205 + their 4-digit student number. This 4 digit number can be found on her schedule, and is the same one used to order books. (For example, if a student's 4-digit number is 1234, then her Cafe number would be 2051234).

Low Balance Reminders in Meal Magic

You can set a low balance reminder in your Meal Magic account to avoid your daughter's account running too low. This can be set up in the Notifications section of the account.

Please be aware that students with insufficient funds will not be able to make purchases with their ID card. If your daughter's account has an insufficient fund balance on December 1st and/or April 1st, your FACTS account will be charged a $25 NSF fee plus the amount necessary to bring your Cafe account to a zero balance.

Late Arrivals & Absences

For every day that a student is absent, a parent or guardian must call St. Joseph’s Academy at (314) 394-4300 or email mainoffice@sja1840.org to report your situation by 8:00 a.m. If a call or email has not been received by that time, an automated message will be sent to parents/guardians at home/work and a return call to the main office is required from the parent/guardian.

Parking

A student who drives to school must register her car and obtain a St. Joseph’s Academy parking permit from the Main Office. Parking passes are issued on a first-come, first-served basis once a student obtains their driver’s license and emails Anna Hotop, Principal of Student Affairs, to request parking registration.

Parking is not allowed on Litzsinger Drive or in the lots of our adjacent neighbors. Violators may be ticketed by Frontenac Police.

Book Orders

When you receive your daughter's schedule for 2026-27, it will have the information you need to order her books, based on her course load and teachers.

Required Texts:
Unless otherwise noted, all books listed are required.

ISBNs:
Please use the ISBN listed for each book to ensure you purchase the correct edition.

Purchasing:
We recommend buying or renting books early, as used copies and rentals may become limited later in the summer. Books may be purchased from local or online booksellers, including Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Fees:
Some courses include books, materials, or online resources that the teacher will provide to students. Any associated fees will be noted for that course.

School Pictures

Wagner Portrait Group will be taking this year's student ID and yearbook photos.

Freshmen photos will be taken during Angels Take Flight.

Sophomores & Juniors will have their photos taken on Tuesday, August 18th.

Seniors should have received an email from Wagner with details about the senior photo session. If your session has not been scheduled, please contact their Customer Service team at (314) 567-5900.

Wagner Portrait Group will send ordering instructions directly to families.

Class of 2027 - Senior Yearbook and Banner Photo Information

It is already time to save the date for senior yearbook and banner photos:

July 1-2
July 16-17

Photos will be taken at Wagner Portrait Group’s studio.

Wagner will communicate directly with families as these dates approach to provide scheduling details for appointments and next steps.

Senior Banner Photo Guidelines

Students will wear the uniform skirt or uniform pants with a senior yellow polo
Yellow polos may be purchased through Just Me Apparel or may be available at the Global Learning Vintage Sale (May 5–7)
Wagner will also have yellow polos available to borrow at the studio, if needed
Please note: the yellow polo is for banner photos only. Seniors may begin wearing it during the school year once senior privileges are granted.
Shirts must be tucked in
Skirts must be the appropriate length and should not be rolled

Yearbook Photo Guidelines

Waist-up or head-and-shoulders photo
Indoor or outdoor setting
No low-cut or strapless tops (photos will be cropped if needed)
No exposed midriff
No pets or props

Uniform Information

Uniform items may be ordered through Just Me Apparel, including senior yellow shirts. Additional items are sold in the SJA Spirit Shop.

A blazer option has been added to our approved school uniform. The blazer can be purchased through Just Me Apparel. It may be worn on any school day and in place of the vest on formal dress days.

Parent Newsletters

St. Joseph's Academy sends out a parent e-newsletter each Sunday during the school year. This newsletter features events, activities, and parent happenings for that week. If you are not receiving the newsletter and would like to, please contact Tina Worland at tworland@sja1840.org.

The Angel Parent Organization sends out a monthly email that includes all the ways that parents can get involved at SJA. If you do not receive the email and would like to, please contact Meredith Metzger, Advancement Specialist, at mmetzger@sja1840.org.

2026-27 Course Registration

Overview

In January, counselors present a four-year plan overview to students. Online registration for the upcoming 2026-27 year will be held in February via Powerschool SIS. During this time, students will attend informational meetings and have access to question and answer sessions before school to help with course planning. Students are encouraged to discuss questions about course choices with their parents, counselor, college advisor, and/or teachers.

The Curriculum Guide lists the courses that are currently offered at St. Joseph's Academy, including a detailed description of the courses, credits, prerequisite requirements, and course expectations.

Student Appeal Form

Students who are not recommended for a weighted course in English, Mathematics, Science, or Social Studies may appeal that decision by completing the following steps. The appeal process is initiated by the student.

The Appeal Form is available in Canvas under Counseling Services > Course Registration, must be completed, signed by a parent/guardian, and is due to the Counseling Office by 9:00 a.m. on February 12th.

Honors/Weighted Courses Form

(due February 26th at 9:00 a.m.)

Students who wish to take more than three honors, ACC, ACP, CC, or AP courses per semester must receive written permission via the Honors/Weighted Courses Form.

Weighted courses :

Reflect increased rigor and a faster pace
Expect higher levels of independent learning
Carry an additional .5 GPA weight

Students enrolled in weighted courses should be ready for greater responsibility and higher academic expectations. Successful students typically demonstrate:

The ability to work independently
A strong worth ethic and time management
Commitment to significant work outside of class
Advanced reading, writing, and critical thinking skills
Active participation in class discussions

This form is available in Canvas under Counseling Services > Course Registration, and must be turned in to the Counseling Office prior to registering for classes online.

Ensure all prerequisites are met before registering for a course. Check with the teacher and/or the department chair if you have any questions
Discuss course selections with your parents
Follow the directions for registration provided by the registrar

2026-27 Re-Enrollment for Current Families

There are several required forms to complete for returning student(s) in the classes of 2027, 2028, and 2029. These will need to be completed or uploaded in the SJA Parent Portal. Please check your email for additional information.

Class of 2030 - please visit the Class of 20 30 page for information on enrollment for incoming freshmen.

** If your daughter is trying out for a sport they must have a current physical on file. Please verify the date of her most recent physical to ensure it does not expire during their sport in 2026-27. Please read the directions for the MSHSAA Physical Form carefully, as there are three steps and only step three (on page 5) will be uploaded to your SJA Parent Portal account. Both forms must be completed by a physician in 2026. Please do not email or mail the forms to school.

Forms MUST be uploaded to the SJA Parent Portal as pdf files, not as image files. To convert an image file to a pdf on an iPhone: Open the Photos app, tap Share, then tap Save to Files. Then open the Files app and find the image, long press the image and select Create PDF.

Angel parent organization

As an SJA parent or guardian, participation in your Angel’s education and high school experience is essential. With parent-daughter Masses and events, service opportunities, activities with Angel Moms and Angel Dads, there are many ways to volunteer throughout the year and be connected and serve with the mission of St. Joseph’s Academy. The Angel Parent Organization (APO) offers parents, guardians, and families the opportunity to fulfill the mission of St. Joseph’s Academy through volunteerism and engagement. There are many opportunities for parents to get involved and support the school. Opportunities can fit all interests and schedules.
