Late Arrivals & Absences

For every day that a student is absent, a parent or guardian must call St. Joseph’s Academy at (314) 394-4300 or email mainoffice@sja1840.org to report your situation by 8:00 a.m. If a call or email has not been received by that time, an automated message will be sent to parents/guardians at home/work and a return call to the main office is required from the parent/guardian.

Cafe Information

Lunch at St. Joseph's Academy is provided by Food Service Consultants.

Students use their school ID to purchase lunch from the cafe.

Online cafe accounts are funded via Meal Magic. The link has changed from last year and all families will need to create a new Meal Magic account through the new portal - even if you used Meal Magic last school year. You will no longer need to use Vanco RevTrak. See below for setup instructions. Funds that were in Meal Magic at the end of the 2024-25 school year have been transferred over.

Check deposits are also accepted. Please make checks out to Food Service Consultants and have your daughter turn in to Jan Wilfred, Cafeteria Manager. Cash will not be accepted at lunchtime.

Low Balance Reminders in Meal Magic

You can set a low balance reminder in your Meal Magic account to avoid your daughter's account running too low. This can be set up in the Notifications section of the account.

Please be aware that students with insufficient funds will not be able to make purchases with their ID card. If your daughter's account has an insufficient fund balance on December 1st and/or April 1st, your FACTS account will be charged a $25 NSF fee plus the amount necessary to bring your Cafe account to a zero balance.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Meal Magic Account Setup

Visit the Meal Magic Portal
Click on My Account.
Click I Need to Register as a Family Portal user.
Follow the instructions linked above.
SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS, and SENIORS: You will need your student's ID number to register. Your student's cafe ID number is 205 + their 4-digit student number. This 4 digit number can be found on her schedule, and is the same one used to order books. (For example, if a student's 4-digit number is 1234, then her Cafe number would be 2051234).
FRESHMAN and TRANSFER STUDENTS: Your student's ID number is their 4-digit student number found on their schedule.

Parking

A student who drives to school must register her car and obtain a St. Joseph’s Academy parking permit from the Main Office. Parking passes are issued on a first-come, first-served basis once a student obtains their driver’s license and emails Anna Hotop, Principal of Student Affairs, to request parking registration.

Parking is not allowed on Litzsinger Drive or in the lots of our adjacent neighbors. Violators may be ticketed by Frontenac Police.

Uniform Information

Uniform items may be ordered through Just Me Apparel, including senior yellow shirts. Additional items are sold in the SJA Spirit Shop.

A blazer option has been added to our approved school uniform. The blazer can be purchased through Just Me Apparel. It may be worn on any school day and in place of the vest on formal dress days.

Parent Newsletters

St. Joseph's Academy sends out a parent e-newsletter each Sunday during the school year. This newsletter features events, activities, and parent happenings for that week. If you are not receiving the newsletter and would like to, please contact Tina Worland at tworland@sja1840.org.

The Angel Parent Organization sends out a monthly email that includes all the ways that parents can get involved at SJA. If you do not receive the email and would like to, please contact Meredith Metzger at mmetzger@sja1840.org.

2025-26 Book Orders

We are no longer using BNC (formerly MBS) to manage our book orders.

When you receive your daughter's schedule, it will have the information you need to order her books, based on her course load and teachers.

The spreadsheet below lists the books your daughter will need for her classes in the fall. We suggest buying online at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or another online bookseller. The earlier you rent or purchase, the more likely you will find used books and rental opportunities. Please use the ISBN listed for each book to ensure you get the correct book.

Re-Enrollment Information for Current Families

There are several required forms to complete for your returning student(s) in the classes of 2026, 2027, and 2028. These will need to be completed or uploaded in the SJA Parent Portal.

Class of 2029 - please visit the Class of 2029 page for information on enrollment for incoming freshmen.

You should have the following available in your SJA Parent Portal portal to complete and/or upload:

SJA Technology Agreement (due June 30, 2025)
2025-26 Student Handbook Agreement (this form will be available in late June, due July 31st)
2025-26 Student Emergency Form (this form will be available in late June, due July 31st)
Class of 2026 Parents only: Seniors are required to submit updated immunization records that include proof of MCV (meningococcal) vaccines. Please upload these records via your Enrollment Checklist.
MSHSAA Physical Form (all athletes)
MSHSAA Annual Form (all athletes)
Athletic Responsibility Acknowledgement (if applicable)
Parent Authorization for Student Athlete Travel Indemnification (if applicable)

Forms MUST be uploaded to the SJA Parent Portal as pdf files, not as image files. To convert an image file to a pdf on an iPhone: Open the Photos app, tap Share, then tap Save to Files. Then open the Files app and find the image, long press the image and select Create PDF.

Angel parent organization

As an SJA parent or guardian, participation in your Angel’s education and high school experience is essential. With parent-daughter Masses and events, service opportunities, activities with Angel Moms and Angel Dads, there are many ways to volunteer throughout the year and be connected and serve with the mission of St. Joseph’s Academy. The Angel Parent Organization (APO) offers parents, guardians, and families the opportunity to fulfill the mission of St. Joseph’s Academy through volunteerism and engagement. There are many opportunities for parents to get involved and support the school. Opportunities can fit all interests and schedules.
