Counseling Department Mission Statement

The St. Joseph’s Academy Counseling Department believes in educating the whole student. Our mission is to empower students by teaching them to learn and do for themselves.

This empowerment means that each student can:
  • Think for herself
  • Advocate for her needs
  • Solve problems in appropriate and timely ways
  • Balance her life by making healthy choices
To that end, we hope to assist each student in meeting her academic and personal needs.

Parent Network Event: Looking from the Outside In with Sarah Swafford

As a parent, teacher, coach, priest, religious, or anyone close to a young woman or man transitioning through stages of life, it can be tough to watch your loved ones go through this challenging time. Is there a game plan for these years? How can someone help and not just stand by?

In this talk, Sarah offers an understanding of emotional virtue, a map for navigating relationships, and a closer look at how to build up interior confidence.

The Parent Network of Catholic High Schools (PNCHS), founded in 1990, is an association of members of independent Catholic high schools in the St. Louis area. It is dedicated to helping parents with the challenges of raising Catholic teens in today’s world. Representatives from the schools meet monthly as the Parent Network Board to share ideas and strategies for better parenting. The Board plans events and prints material to support parents in their effort to deal with teen issues.
