    Student Diversity Leadership Conference

The following opportunity, sponsored by the SJA Diversity Committee and Administration, is open to all students:

Student Diversity Leadership Conference hosted by National Association of Independent Schools
    November 28-December 1, 2018 in Nashville, TN

We will leave on Monday, November 26, and head to Memphis, TN. There, we will experience a bit of Civil Rights history on Tuesday, November 27, before heading to the conference in Nashville.

This past year, five St. Joe students attended the conference. It was a powerful and transformative experience for each of them. Their confidence grew and their voices strengthened in regard to recognizing the importance of standing by and with our brothers and sisters who experience exclusion as a result of their identities. As the application states, these students developed effective strategies for social justice, empathy and much conversation about love. Though this is not a retreat or a theological conference, it invites the students to live their faith more fully and learn more deeply what it means to live out the CSJ charisms of unifying love and living in right relationship.

For more information, an application and for estimated costs, please contact Mrs. Ann Hammer via email at ahammer@sja1840.org.
