  • Block Printing 101

    8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

    5th-8th Grade
    Fee: $125

    Come learn the history and fundamentals of block printing! Explore cultural references and different techniques and how they are applied. Then, create your own block print on fabric using early tools and pigments. You will leave with a special project you created and a story to tell.

    5th-8th Grade
    Fee: $125

    Continue your study of block printing in this course! Your imagination is the limit. You will create 2 projects to take with you. While Block Printing 101 is not a requirement, it does provide a useful point of reference for this class!

Or develop skills that can be transferred into the classroom? Then, you should join Creative Writing Bootcamp! Over the week, students will learn new strategies for enhancing description and “Showing and Not Telling” in journal prompts, storytelling, and even poetry. Bring a writing notebook as we write, write, and write some more!

  • CSI Investigation

    10:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

    5th-8th Grade
    Fee: $125

    Students will be introduced to the world of forensic science and will take a behind-the-scenes look at criminal investigations. Combining current chemistry and biological forensic techniques, students will use fingerprints, explore blood splatter, toxicology and will look at how bones and teeth can help solve the crime.

  • Disney Plus (Session 1)

  • Origami

    8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

    5th-8th Grade
    Fee: $125

    This craft camp will explore the Japanese art of paper folding. We will learn how to make basic origami folds on a flat piece of origami paper and how to combine those basic folds into a three-dimensional paper sculpture. Participants will use a variety of folding techniques to create a wide range of paper figures, including flowers, animals, boxes, and geometric shapes. No prior craft or art experience is necessary!

  • Rocket Camp

    10:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

    5th-8th Grade
    Fee: $125

    This camp will be facilitated by members of the St. Joe Rocket Club that competes in the American Rocketry Challenge! Students will learn the basic parts of a model rocket and how these parts work together to launch, fly and recover the rocket. Each camper will then build a small rocket from a kit and fly the rocket at St. Joe, and then she will build a larger rocket from scratch and fly the rocket at Buda Park in Valley Park, MO.

  • Save the Earth

    8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

    5th-8th Grade
    Fee: $125

    While reading the novel, The Dark Life, students will engineer solutions to environmental problems presented in the book and expand their problem solving to real world scenarios. The novel is fictional and explores rising ocean levels, earthquakes shattering the continents, and humans that adapt to their environment by living on the ocean floor. Students will actively explore these types of environmental problems with application to our oceans, air and soil pollution. Students will participate with a hands-on approach through laboratory exercises, indoor/outdoor activities, computer simulations and research.

  • Supergirls Code!

    10:15 a.m.-12:15 a.m.

    5th-8th Grade
    Fee: $125

    Students will learn how to code through fun, creative projects, including coding Google Logos and coding dresses. Students will be introduced to STEM role models, learn the basics of HTML and CSS, and apply their new skills to a variety of different projects, all while in a supportive environment that promotes confidence and friendship. Whether you’re a coding pro or do not know what code is, this camp is for you!

  • Bridge Building

    10:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

    5th-8th Grade
    Fee: $125

    This camp will look into the forces, materials, and designs that allow bridges to carry heavy loads. Students will learn about the advantages and disadvantages of different types of bridges, they will simulate each type of bridge through experiments and mini projects, and they will work together in teams to construct (and test) a scaled bridge of their own.

  • Cake Pop Camp

    8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

    5th-8th Grade
    Fee: $125

    Spend the week making and decorating cake pops! Students will learn the basic methods of making cake pops – making the dough, rolling them out, dipping them, and decorating them. Each camper will be bringing her delicious treats home every day!

    **Cake pop ingredients will be nut free, but may contain nuts. Please note any allergies on your registration form.

  • Coding with the Sphero Spark Ball

    10:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

    5th-8th Grade
    Fee: $125

    Students will learn the basics of block coding and participate in activities such as navigating the Sphero ball through a maze, looping and adding sound and speech as they create and code a timed game.
    This camp will require students to come with a charged smartphone or an iPad running IOS 10 or above. The settings on the phone must allow the students to download the Sphero app.

  • Color Exploration

    10:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

    5th-8th Grade
    Fee: $125

    Using different mediums, students will explore color mixing and gain a better understanding of the Color Wheel. Students will use color to define mood, expression and add impact to their art. New projects introduced daily.

    Students will challenge their drawing skills to push for a more advanced understanding and implementation of drawing concepts. Drawing from observation will be the primary focus.

  • Rock Painting

    8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

    5th-8th Grade
    Fee: $125

    This craft camp will allow participants to harness their creativity by adding colorful patterns, images, and messages to the surface of typical garden rocks. Students will receive several landscaping rocks to design, paint, and seal through the course of the week. Final products will be safe for display both indoors and outdoors in a home garden. No prior craft or art experience is necessary!
