St. Joseph’s Academy is a not-for-profit corporation located at 2307 South Lindbergh Boulevard, St. Louis, Missouri 63131.
Governance rests in the St. Joseph Educational Ministries and a Board of Directors. Current parents provide direct input into school operations through membership on the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors.
St. Joseph Educational Ministries
St. Joseph’s Academy is a not-for-profit corporation sponsored by St. Joseph Educational Ministries (“SJEM”), a Ministerial Public Juridic Person (a canonical term for a group of persons who together further the mission of the church). Status as a ministerial public juridic person has been granted to SJEM by the Vatican, which enables lay people to take on sponsorship roles traditionally held only by religious communities. SJEM was established for the sponsorship of the five educational institutions founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, St. Louis Province and is responsible for ensuring that the Catholic identity and CSJ spirituality of its sponsored institutions, including St. Joseph’s Academy, is retained in perpetuity. Day to day governance of the Academy is vested in our Board of Directors.
Board of Directors
The Board's Purpose is to provide leadership and strategic direction to advance the mission of St. Joseph’s Academy. Governance by the Board of Directors shall include but shall not be limited to the following matters:
- Upholding the purpose and mission of the Academy;
- Approving administrative policies for the effective operation of the school;
- Providing for effective management of the school;
- Monitoring and evaluating school operations;
- Planning and providing for the solvency and financial stability of SJA;
- Approving the annual budget.
